Intuitive Eating – Break Free From Diets!

If you are like hundreds of thousands of other people, you have gotten stuck on the ‘diet train’ at one point in your life.  Have you ever thought “If I weigh a certain amount, I will feel more confident about myself”, or “If I can only lose those last 5 lbs, I’ll be more accepted by my peers”, or “Thin people are more attractive, successful, and smart”?  If you have, you’re not alone — we are groomed in our society today to internalize some of these thoughts.

However, diets don’t work.  Your body is not meant to be forced into starvation mode!  What happens if you get stuck on the ‘diet train’ is that after a period of time your body and your brain begin to function differently, craving the things they are not allowed to have and altering your brain chemistry.  Eventually when you eat “normally” again, you will gain back the weight you lost — and then some — as your body tries to get back into a balanced place.

Diets are also the number one risk factor to developing an eating disorder.

I help my clients adopt a mentality that I love using myself — intuitive eating.  You never have to go on a diet again!

Intuitive eating involves slowing down, practicing in mindfulness, and listening to what your body truly wants and needs.  What is your hunger level?  What sounds good to eat right now?  Are you eating for physical or emotional hunger reasons?

These and more are all questions we will process as I help you find a balanced relationship with food that is centered around nurturing and enjoyment instead of deprivation and dieting.  Intuitive eating helps your body get back to that natural place where you are genetically meant to be and which feels really good!  It’s not a diet, but a lifestyle you can adopt for the rest of your life.
