What is Body Image?

Body image is ‘the subjective picture or mental image of one’s own body’ and struggling with negative body image can cause immense amounts of suffering.  Maybe you don’t have disordered eating or exercise patterns but you just can’t feel comfortable in your body and wish you looked a different way.

I know what it’s like to struggle with body image issues, as do millions of other people on this planet.  What I have learned through my own healing and through treating others is that body image struggles have nothing to do with your body!  Emotions, fears, worries, or wounds that we have experienced emotionally can be projected on our bodies and they can become a sort of ‘war-zone’ for our emotional self.  Through observing, understanding, and healing these feelings or perceptions, we can find peace in our bodies and love ourselves just as we are — inside and out!
